Dental Anxiety

It is estimated that almost 15% of people avoid the dentist due to dental anxiety. People with dental anxiety may be at higher risk for gum disease, tooth decay and tooth loss due to infrequent dental visits. These patients may also be at higher risk for other health problems such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, as oral health has been linked to overall health.

People develop dental anxiety for different reasons such as: fear of pain or injections, embarrassment of the appearance of their teeth, loss of personal space during an appointment, or bad past experiences. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible during your dental visit. There are some options we can offer to help ease dental anxiety, such as nitrous oxide (laughing gas.) We would be happy to discuss other options, any concerns you may have, or explain any procedures before completing treatment.
